Dog Urinalysis and Fecal Exam Back
Urinalysis Testing
Usually urine samples are collected in addition to blood samples for the diagnosis of infections, stones, and internal organ disease. These samples give us a better idea of your dog’s internal health and also help us diagnose if there is a possibility of a urinary tract infection that will need further investigation.
Fecal Testing
Fecal testing is required to see if your dog is carrying any intestinal parasites which can cause diarrhea. Any other indications of gastrointestinal distress will also require collection of a fecal sample for proper investigation. We do these routinely to ensure your pet is healthy and free of any parasites that can affect not only your pet but also other members of your family.
Annual Fecal Examination for your dog
It is recommended to repeat a fecal examination every year to ensure that your dog is free of intestinal parasites like Roundworms, Hookworms, Giardia and Whipworms. Unfortunately, children are susceptible to some of these parasites as well and it is a good idea to have your dog checked annually to prevent infections. We recommend deworming year-round, especially during the summer months.
