End of Life Care for Cats (Cat Euthanasia) Back

Our pets can undergo trauma or terminal illness that can cause a significant decline in their condition and quality of life. This can be extremely difficult for the pet and the family. We can guide you through different options that are available in these situations.

Pet Euthanasia

Deciding about euthanasia as an option for your suffering pet can be an extremely difficult and emotional decision. At Bickford Vet, we are here to help you every step of the way. We will discuss all the options in detail with you and answer all your questions through the process. Your pet is a part of your family and this can be a traumatic experience for your family. We understand and respect your wishes about the decision.

Family Participation

We encourage you to stay and hold your pet and comfort them during the end of life process if you so desire. Bring along a favourite toy, food, a blanket or anything else you think might bring them comfort. Of course, it is a very personal decision and if it is difficult for you to be there, our loving team will take care of it for you as well.

Bereavement Counselling

We will be here for you and answer any questions after the loos of a pet. We are not qualified counsellors but we will always welcome any communication. For professional support after the loss of a pet, please refer to the Ontario Veterinary College for a list of sources or OVC Pet Trust.

Cost of Euthanasia

Cost for this service is dependent upon your choice of aftercare for your pet’s remains. Our client care team will be happy to provide you with an estimate over the telephone.
